Masashi Usui is an award-winning, Japan-based tenor saxophonist, composer, arranger, and MARCA Reeds Saxophone Gold Artist, celebrated for his luminous tone, and for bringing contemporary freshness to the traditions of American jazz. He has released multiple albums recorded in both Japan and North America and has authored several educational books. During the past month of touring throughout Japan and Canada, Usui has united with celebrated Montréal musicians, pianist Kate Wyatt and bassist Adrian Vedady, performing a program of jazz standards and works written by all three artists. For this one night only they will be joined by Vancouver’s own Graham Villette on drums, to round out a swinging quartet.
