A CELEBRATION OF SONNY ROLLINS: ARDESHIR PLAYS SAXOPHONE COLUSSUS

Ardeshir Pourkeramati recently returned home to Vancouver after several years in Los Angeles, where he completed his doctoral degree in Jazz Studies at the University of Southern California. Since relocating, he has quickly become one of Vancouver’s busiest saxophonists, leading multiple projects while remaining active across a wide range of musical settings. For this special occasion, Ardeshir has assembled an exceptional band that will celebrate Sonny Rollins’ 95th birthday while paying tribute to his iconic album “Saxophone Colossus”. Alongside his long-time friend and collaborator, bassist Daniel Howard, he is joined by two of Los Angeles’ most active and vibrant young jazz musicians, Izaak Weatherwax on drums and Josh Childs on piano.
