Ace Vancouver Jazz band Holly Burke and the Naturalz whose shows include exciting improvised soloing, infectious grooves, hip arrangements and brilliant performances by a crack band that includes some of Canada’s best musicians. You may hear a couple of tasty covers like Joni Mitchell’s ‘Woodstock’ or a mash-up of Jimi Hendrix's ‘Let Me Stand Next to your Fire’ with Stravinsky’s Rites of Spring. You'll be carried away by the beautiful ‘River of Stars’ and thrilled by the globe-trotting ’Serengeti’. There may be poetry! no matter what you’re guaranteed a fun evening of creative magic and mystery... Composers Holly Burke and Bill Runge have collaborated on several projects over the years including the award-winning Nature Girl recording, the Hard Rubber commission of ‘Lagoon’, a three movement orchestral piece performed as part of "Horns in the Atrium” at Simon Fraser, Kozmik Keyboards, a one hour keyboard/spoken word collaboration written and performed by Holly, and most recently the Dreamride Project, Twenty Etudes for the Contemporary Pianist which is a recording, a book and a performing quartet, supported by Canada Council.
