Cory Weeds celebrates his birthday with a powerhouse cross-border quintet bringing together some of the most exciting musicians from across North America.

Joining Weeds is New York trumpeter and vocalist Benny Benack III, whose charismatic blend of fiery trumpet playing and swinging vocals has made him one of the most distinctive voices of his generation. Celebrated Canadian pianist and composer David Braid brings his extraordinary musicianship to the band, alongside Vancouver-based bassist John Lee, one of Canada’s brightest young jazz talents. Rounding out the group is hard-swinging Chicago drummer George Fludas, a longtime fixture on the international jazz scene.

It’s a particularly cool meeting of musical geography: New York, Chicago, Toronto and Vancouver all converging on the Frankie’s stage for one night. Expect hard swing, great tunes, plenty of spontaneity and maybe a few birthday surprises.
