Trumpet/flugelhornist BRIAN O’KANE is a member of many of Toronto’s finest bands including John MacLeod’s Juno winning “Rex Hotel Orchestra”, the Barry Elmes Quintet, Hilario Duran’s Latin Jazz Big Band and has performed/recorded with many other ensembles including the Rob McConnell Tentet, The Boss Brass, Brian Dickinson’s Jazz Orchestra, as well as jazz quintets led by Bernie Senensky, Dave Young, Kirk Macdonald, and Don Thompson. He has also performed with classical groups including the Toronto Symphony and National Arts Centre Orchestras, and was an Associate Member of True North Brass. Brian has also backed up a lengthy list of musicians including Barbra Streisand, Aretha Franklin, Diana Krall and Paul Anka, and has performed in numerous theatre pits in Toronto. As the Head of the Brass Department at Toronto’s Humber College he is also a busy educator and has been featured as an artist/clinician at various universities and colleges across North America. Brian is a Yamaha Canada Artist as well as an endorsing artist for Gard Bags. Trumpeter, pianist, drummer and composer BRAD TURNER is one of Canada’s most indemand and highly esteemed jazz musicians. Brad has performed and/or recorded with such artists as Joe Lovano, Bill Frisell, Kenny Wheeler, John Scofield, Michael Moore, Reneé Rosnes, Jimmy Greene, Ingrid Jensen, Peggy Lee, Dave Douglas, Mike Murley, Seamus Blake, Kenny Werner, Mino Cinelu, Russell Malone, Charles McPherson, Phil Dwyer, Roy McCurdy, Harold Mabern and Ernie Watts. Brad’s groups have opened for McCoy Tyner, Roy Haynes, Wayne Shorter, Clark Terry, Diana Krall, Ahmad Jamal and Tony Bennett. As a leader, Brad has released nine albums, seven as a trumpeter with the Brad Turner Quartet, and two as a pianist with his trio. Three of those releases have been nominated for Juno awards.
